Summary of the Mtg-Minutes:

 

  1. About 30 people representing various different Organizations attended this meeting.
  2. Nov 5 , 2006 Mtg Minutes were approved.
  3. BUFLA-Logo was decided.
  4. The Unity Celebration Day “Action committees” made their presentations for Bangladesh day celebration.
  5. Dr. Yunus will be invited for April 1, 2007, or for any other convenient day.
  6. The Mtg ended at 4:30 PM
  7. Next meeting is on January 14, 2007, Sunday starting at 2 PM at Shatto.

The meeting continued as follows:

 

Agenda Discussion:

 

At first the Agenda of the meeting was presented and discussed. It was unanimously approved. Then the meeting started.

 

Item – 1:  (Introductions)

 

All the attendees introduced themselves individually.

 

Item – 2:   (Nov 5, 2006  Mtg-minutes)

 

The November 5, 2006 Mtg-Minutes was discussed in this meeting for any errors, and then it was unanimously approved.

  

 

Item – 3:   (BUFLA Logo)

 

Dr. Hashem presented 4 designs of the Logo. Those were reviewed by all attendees and were voted on. One design was favored by overwhelming majority. It is a circular design with Shapla flower inside along with Bangladesh flag and USA flag. Abdur Razzaque got the Logo printing done in Bangladesh, and everyone appreciated it.

 

Item – 6:   The “Unity Celebration Day” à  Bangladesh day.

Emdadul haque Bob gave the report on behalf of the Venue committee.  The 3rd street between Hobart and Kingsley is the first preference. Contacted the City Council office of District 4. The signatures of more than 50% of businesses or residents are required for the approval of road closure. Ishtiaq Chisti suggested to contact the Korean community leaders. Bob will coordinate with the Venue committee and submit a more conclusive report by Dec 15, 2006.

Farid Khan reported on behalf of the Booth collection committee. Farid will meet with the committee members and come up with a more definitive plan for booth collection, and then submit that report by Dec 15.

 

iv)  (a) Inviting dignitaries (b) Reception of Dignitaries.  (Guests to be invited are: Governor, Mayors, Senators, Congressmen-women, City Council members, Police Chief, Sherrif, County supervisors, UC-CSU-President-Chancellor, some Hollywood stars, some local Business Executives, Bangladesh Ambassador and Consul General and their full staff, Bangladesh Prime Minister and some other Bangladesh officials, some celebrity Artists of Bangladesh, etc):

Quazi Moshurul Huda reported on behalf of the Dignitaries-invitation committee. He will meet with the committee members and come up with a more detail plan for inviting the dignitaries, and then submit that report by Dec 15.

Mushfiqur Chowdhury Khansu reported on behalf of the Coordinators committee. He will meet with the committee members and come up with a more detail plan to interact with all committees and to extend a helping hand to all committees. Khasru will then submit that plan report by Dec 15.

 

 

vi)  Program

(b) Speeches by the Dignitaries:  Members of the Dignitaries inviting team

(c) Cultural Program:  Ali Ashraf Runu, Zahid Hossain Pintu, Dr. Hashem, Khalid Hossain, Shahana Parveen, Shanku Ice

 

Dr. Hashem reported on behalf of the Cultural program committee. He suggested to combine all cultural program under one committee and everyone agreed. He will meet with the members of the cultural committee and come up with a more detail plan so that the whole community is fairly represented in the cultural program. He will then submit that plan report by Dec 15.

 

 

vii)  Sound system

Item – 8:  Invitation to Dr. Yunus to LA / Southern California

 

The team selected Osman Chowdhury to invite Dr. Yunus for April 1, 2007 (or for any other day as appropriate. (Osman Bhai is sick at this time, and so, the team is extending du’a for the speedy & complete recovery of Osman bhai).

 

Item – 11:   (Next meeting Date)

 

The next meeting date is January 14, 2007, Sunday,  from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Shatto Recreation Center, 3191 W. 4th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90020. (on 4th Street near Vermont).

 

Note:  Abul Kashem Toha Bhai is going for Hajj, and so, he entertained all the attendees with sweets and Pattis. Majib Siddiquee Bhai lead a Munajat with a special du’a for his good journey to Hajj.

 

The meeting adjourned at about 4:30 PM.
