Minutes of the Meeting

March 11, 2007,  Sunday,  2PM to 4 PM

Summary of the Mtg-Minutes:

 

1.     About 40 people attended this meeting representing various different Organizations from the list of 57 Organizations.

2.     The LA City Council approved an amendment to the previous motion, to include the Bangladesh day parade on the main road (on Harvard Blvd between 3rd Street and 6th Street, right infront of Swadesh Restaurnt) in Los Angeles.

3.     A motion was passed as follows: Every Organization will pay the Parade Registration fee of $100, plus we expect a minimum of $400 or more as donation from each organization.

4.     The Organizations paying $100 can participate in the Parade. The Organizations paying $500 or more are the “Decision making Host” Organizations.

5.     BUFLA bank account was opened at Bank of America on 2-13-2007, and the Account number is:  000991-122000661-09935-66120.

6.     Varioous organizations contributed a total of $3,500 in this meeting, along with additional pledge.

7.     The Mtg ended at 5:30 PM

8.     Next meeting is on March 18, 2007, Sunday starting at 2 PM at Shatto.

The meeting continued as follows:

 

Agenda Discussion:

 

At first the Agenda of the meeting was presented and discussed. It was unanimously approved. Then the meeting started.

 

Item – 1:  (Introductions)

 

All the attendees introduced themselves individually.

 

Item – 2:   (February 25,  2007  Mtg-minutes)

 

The February 25, 2007 Mtg-Minutes was discussed and unanimously approved. An amended motion regarding the Organizational contribution (of last meeting) was passed in this meeting, as stated below.

  

 

Item – 3:   Reports of Action Committees:

 

i) Parade and Venue Status

 

The venue committee reported that the LA City Council approved an amendment to the previous motion, to include the Bangladesh day parade on the main road (Harvard Blvd between 3rd Street and 6th Street, right infront of Swadesh Restaurnt) in Los Angeles. Few additional items are yet to be done including the insurance, proof of non-profit status, etc.

 

 

ii) Bank Account:

 

BUFLA bank account was opened at Bank of America on 2-13-2007, with a donation of $1000 from Mahbub Khan. The BUFLA Account number is:  000991-122000661-09935-66120. The current balance is $1,350.

 

 

iii) Budget

 

The budget for this event is $32,000.

 

iv)  Fund Raising

 

A motion was passed as follows: Every Organization will pay the Parade Registration fee of $100, plus we expect a minimum of $400 or more as donation from each organization, making it a total of $500.

 

The Organizations paying $100 can participate in the Parade. The Organizations paying $500 or more are the “Decision making Host” Organizations.

 

Various organizations contributed a total of $3,500 in this meeting, along with additional pledge.

Parade:

 

The parade committee made a presentation about the formats, routes, and disciplines of the Parade. A more detail presentation will be given in the next meeting on March 18.
